Tree Work In Norfolk

Today our tree surgeons are carrying out some tree work in Norfolk….  The job was to dismantle a Hornbeam in a confined space, as the tree was dead and to hazardous to climb we decided to use a MEWP (mobile elevated work platform).

We arrived on site about 7.30 and started to fill in a written risk assessment for the site, we then carried out a wildlife survey and set out the site using tree cutting warning and footpath closed signs, closing the footpath before the MEWP arrived. Rory one of are staff who holds a IPAF qualification was going top go up in the MEWP basket to carry out the dismantle.

The rest of us were responsible for cross cutting and stacking the brash as it come down from the tree, it was place into neat piles ready for chipping later.

Once Rory had dismantled the tree to a suitable height to fell he came down to help chip the piles of brash into the back of a truck before we felled the main trunk.

After all the brash was clear we felled the main trunk, this was then cross cut into manageable pieces and lifted onto one of the trucks.

The job took us around 3 hrs to complete from start to finish.
