Today we were called to do emergency tree work in Norfolk, the work was being carried out for Anglian Water.
The job was to dismantle this large Poplar which had blown over in the recent winds and was hung up on a neighbouring tree.
Poplar tree often go over in strong winds as they are often planted on wet ground, so strong winds and rain can often cause them to up root.
The day started with a risk assessment then we talked through how the work was going to be completed in the safest way. We decided that as there was now access or room to use a MEWP ( Mobile Elevated Work Platform ) we would install two anchor points for the climbing ropes into neighbouring trees, we also installed a pulley block in a neighbouring tree to use for rigging down the fallen tree.
The tree was overhanging a boundary fence so had to be taken down in sections.
All the brash and logs from the tree were neatly stacked into habitat piles this is great for attracting invertebrates and amphibian’s.
