Tree Work in Dereham

Our tree surgeons were called out to Neatherd High School in Dereham deal with the wind damaged Beech… The tree had lost 50% of the crown which was laying on one of the schools mobiles. We discovered that the tree itself had decay from old pruning wounds, which together with structural weakness and strong winds caused the tree to fail. Annual inspection would have noted this and the situation avoided.

The first thing we did was a site risk assessment checking for hazards noting them and then taking measures to lessen the risk. We then started to set up using tree cutting signs, and do to the nature of the site we also used hazard tape and taped of a large area of the school field, as it was a working school day.

Rory started to make his way up the remaining part of the tree to find a anchor point to install his climbing rope, once installed he made his way down to the large limb laying on top of the school mobile which he then started to dismantle in small pieces dropping them down to the floor.

The rest of us were just watching out for Rory and keeping a watchful eye on any paths leading up to the site in case of any children trying to jump over the warning tape trying to take a short cut. Once the limb was down we stacked all the brash into heaps ready for processing into wood chip later.

After a break Rory made his way back up the remaining tree and started dismantling it piece by piece while the rest of us were once again stacking it ready for chipping later, once the tree was down we started to chip the brash and cross cut the limbs into manageable pieces ready to load onto the trucks.
