Tree Surgeons Watton

Today our tree surgeons are in Watton Norfolk home of Norfolk’s best Baguette (Steven Smiths Butchers)..!

We are Dismantling 3 hedge row Ash trees, the trees are overshadowing the house and the home owner has just had solar panels installed. The first job is a risk assessment followed by inspection for wildlife  the trees have Ivy on them, the Ivy creates habitat for nesting birds and also Bats, we then set out the site signs, hazard tape etc while Chris started to make he way up the tree.

Once Chris had reached a suitable anchor point he installed his main climbing line and also installed a pulley block and lowering rope ready for use later on and then made he way down to the lowest branches ready to start cutting. Once in position and given the ok from the ground staff he started dismantling some the limbs.

The rest of us are in charge of lowering, cross cutting and stacking of the brash ready for processing into chip later we try to keep the site as clean and free from trip hazards as possible.

The home owner has asked us to cut the wood into logs for his wood burner as Ash is one of the best burning woods this also helps keep the cost of the tree work down as saves on the vehicle loads removed from site. The chip on the other hand is good as a mulch around the garden, however if it is removed from site it is stock piled until we have around 26 tons it is then picked up by Stobart biomass and taken to a power station in Thetford.
