Early starts this week as our tree surgeons have been working in the woodland gardens in the crematorium in King’s Lynn… We have been on site from 5.45am to avoid any noise during services. The work involved a lot of dismantling, pruning, crown cleaning and non invasive bracing (installation of a rope to support weak limbs and branches).
We spent around two weeks in the grounds and the work involved a lot of climbing so we spread the climbing duties doing 4hrs each and then resting for a day while the other two climbed this helped with fatigue as the weather was extremely hot.
We were dressed in our hi viz all week being a wooded area its helps the climber and general public see the ground staff from greater distances.
We also had to wear insect repellent as there were a lot of biting insects all these factors added together can being very hard to deal with at times and ones temper can soon be lost this is what you don’t want when working in a close team.
The work has taken around 2 weeks to complete , as most of the work was carried out in natural location we carried out a lot of conservation cutting leaving monoliths for habitat, during our pre work inspections we found this Hornet in an old Woodpeckers hole (quite a friendly little chap).
Old Woodpecker holes can create habitat for a number of Insects, Birds, Bats etc so must always be inspected before tree work is undertaken.
