Tree Surgeons In Wymondham

Today our tree surgeons in Wymondham are re-pollardeding a Willow tree in Wymondham… On arrival at the site, our we carried a written risk assessment followed by a survey for wildlife nesting birds etc, once these were complete we proceeded to set out the traffic management including signs and cones as the tree was overhanging the road and foot path and it also gave us space in which to park vehicles and also created a safer and less stress free work area for us when working on the tree.

Rory then started to make his way up the tree to find a suitable location in which to install his main climbing line, pulley block and working rope. once these were installed he then made his way down to the lower branches ready to start work.

We lowered all the branches from a suitable anchor point in the middle of the tree, the branches also had a pull line on them so we could pull the branches away from the vegetation below, this also gave more control on where the branches would go, instead of swinging into the road.

The branches that were lowered were then cross cut and neatly stacked behind the chipper ready to process later. Once the pile of branches began to get in the way of the working area Rory had 5 mins while we chipped them up into the truck which was parked in the clients drive, making sure we chipped away from the road and pedestrians. The tree took a day for us to complete and was made easier by the client keeping the wood.

Rory re-pollarded the tree back to the previous pollard points this will allow it to regenerate.

Pollarding is a good way of managing some trees species in confined and hazardous areas i.e roads,

Schools and public walkways, a pollard should then be managed in a cycle depending on tree age , condition,

location etc.Willows are a very good tree species to pollard and can regenerate 6-10ft of new growth within two years.
