Tree Surgeons in Watton

We were called by a customer to inspect some trees in her garden and found a large Ash tree which had basal decay and structural weaknesses, so we decided to reduce the tree to a radius of not less then 6m or a 30% reduction in volume.

The day started at the usual time of 7.30am where we meet in the yard and loaded up the appropriate kit for the days work. Once loaded up we headed out to the job, a four man team was needed for this this as the tree was located in close proximity to the highway.

Once we arrived on site we carried out the risk assessment this involves checking the site for hazards noting them and then trying to lessen the risk by putting control measures in place.

We then carried out the wildlife survey looking for signs of bats and nesting birds etc all of which protected by law (Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981) if any of the following are found the work would be postponed and rescheduled for another day. We then set up the site tree cutting signs and all the other signs needed for working on the highway were put into place along with hazard tape and cones only then could we start with the actually job in hand!

Today it was Toms turn to climb so he started to make his way up the tree to find suitable anchor for both his main climbing rope and the pulley block for the working rope, once in place he made his way back down to the lower crown ready to start work. The rest of us were in charge of the rigging and lowering operations and also the cross cutting and stacking of the branches and wood once on the ground.
