Tree Surgeons in Norwich

Today our tree surgeons in Norwich have been have been removing some trees… The job was to dismantle some dead Willow trees using a mobile elevated work platform.
The work was being carried out for Anglian Water in one of their pumping compounds and the trees were located around the perimeter fence and overhanging diesel tanks and various buildings so we had to be very careful when removing these trees.
The day started around 8.15am with a site induction by Anglian Water informing us about the site and what to do if the site has to be vacated. Once this was complete the team had a walk through the site to assess the methods we would use to access the trees which needed removing. We then carried out a wildlife survey looking for nesting birds and other protected wildlife which would be affected by the removal of the trees. This took about a hour to complete as there were several trees to remove and lots of undergrowth to inspect.
It was then time for the team to carry out and fill in a written risk assessment and only once completed could we actually start the work an,d as the work was in a compound which could be locked, we only needed a couple of tree cutting signs out so we saved a bit of time setting up the site.
Chris was going to go up in the MEWP he holds a IPAF certificate which allows him to use the MEWP legally. The rest of the crew where responsible for stacking the brash into heaps for chipping later and stacking the wood into heaps so the Anglian Water staff could take it home.
The job took two days to complete, one day working at height with the MEWP and another working from ground level felling the stumps. We always try to minimise the time working at height were possible.
