Today our tree surgeons in Norwich have been carrying out some reduction work on a Horse Chestnut tree…
The tree is located just outside Norwich and is in a conservation area.
The work has took approximately two months from quoting for the work to completing the work. The first step is to go to site and look at what works need to be done to the tree, this then needs to be listed and sent in on a tree works application form to the local district council who our responsible for the area in which the work is to be done.
Once the application has been sent in the council will send a letter of recognition and have six weeks to respond to the suggested work, if you do not hear from them by the date on the recognition letter you can carry out the suggested tree works.
The recommendation on this tree was a reduction in height to 11m, and a reduction in the crown radius to not less than 5m, this work was recommended as the tree had previous poor reduction work, which in turn had caused decay and dieback within the crown.
We arrived on site around 8.30 and started with a site risk assessment, once complete we started to set out the site using tree cutting hazard signs and hazard tape.
We then surveyed the site for wildlife and started work. Its Tom and chris who were climbing today both reducing a side of the crown each the rest of us were directing the climbers and clearing and stacking brash and wood.
Most people are now keeping any wood as a lot now have wood burners, the wood itself can be cut into logs foe additional cost this saves the customer time and work cutting it to length. Another advantage of this is that the would seasons quicker once cut up.
