Today our tree surgeons in Kings Lynn where we are carrying out a crown reduction on a Locust tree for the Borough Council… The tree is situated on a housing estate on a small green and is surrounded by houses many of which are complaining about the tree.
We have been asked to carry out an overall reduction of approximately 1.5 – 2m. We arrived on site and carried out a risk assessment followed by a survey for wildlife nesting birds etc, we were told by a resident that bats were seen at night around the tree so we had a good look for cavities and bat habitat we could not find any signs so i assume that the we feeding on insects around the tree.
Chris and Fred two of are tree surgeons then proceeded to start climbing while me and Rory put out the signs and hazard warning tape, when Fred and Chris got there anchor points in they started to make there way to there starting locations Fred one side Chris the other while me and Rory started to give instructions were to prune, we find having to climbing halves the time spent up a tree so helps during really hot weather as you can soon overheat. The tree took around 4hrs to complete we then chipped the waste and tidy the site.
Here is a picture of Fred at the top of the tree with a puffed chest like a Wood Pigeon!
