Today our tree surgeons are in Dereham working on a property where the client has just installed solar panels… He wanted his trees reduced in height but this is not recommended as crown reduction work is only a short term solution. This job was along side a busy road so we had to fill in an opening notice a minimum of 10 days before work start date.
All of our tree surgeons hold chapter 8 certificates which allow us to set up and manage traffic on the Norfolk highways.
We arrived on site about 7.45am and carried out a ground level inspection for wildlife, filled in a risk assessment form and started to set up a the traffic management signs, cones and stop go boards on this occasion.
Rory then proceeded to climb on this occasion inspecting for wildlife whilst climbing the Ivy covered tree making he way up to locate a suitable anchor point for his main climbing line, pulley block and working rope, he then made he way back down to the lower limbs ready to start work.
The rest of us were responsible for the stop go boards one person on each board and two of us were managing the lowering, cross cutting and stacking of the branches as they were removed ready to process into chip later once the climbing was completed, the chipping is done later to avoid a communication brake down between climber and ground staff.
On this occasion the costumer wanted to keep all the wood as he had a wood burner so we cut this into logs for him and stacked them to one side to avoid creating a trip hazard the job took around 7 hours to complete.
