Tree Surgeons Hingham

Today our tree surgeons in Hingham were dismantling a Beech we arrived on site around 8.15am… The Beech we are going to dismantle has a TPO tree preservation order so we had to fill in a application form 6 weeks prier to the work commencing, the reason for the removal of the tree was that it has Meripilus giganteus (Giant polypore). The fungus effects the root structure of the host tree making the tree unstable please see are pest and disease page for further information.

First we started all the everyday tasks like the risk assessment looking for risks noting them and thinking of way to lessen them, wildlife survey checking for Bats and nesting birds etc all of which are protected by law & installing the signs etc creating a safer working environment for us and the public.

It was Chris who wanted to climb today so he proceeded to install his climbing line into the tree, once this was installed he starting making his way to the top of the tree to find a suitable anchor point his main line and anchor point for the pulley block (a devise used when lowering branches to create less friction). He then made his decent down to the location ready to starting cutting.

Myself, Rory and Fred were in charge of the ground works lowering branches, cross cutting , chipping and generally keeping the work area clean and free from trip hazards. The tree was situated in a very confined space with large limbs overhanging 2 houses and a garage so lots of carful lowering involved in this one. Once the crown was dismantled we used a MEWP (mobile elevated work platform) to dismantle the trunk,  the tree took around 3 days to dismantle and was made a lot easier by the customer keeping all the wood for his fire and wood chip for his garden.
