Today one of our tree teams have been doing some sectional tree felling in Norfolk the work was be carried out on this large Willow tree…
We were called about two weeks ago regarding this tree and asked if we could go and inspect it as one of the Anglian Water employees had seen something growing on the tree.
We went out the following week and found the fungal fruiting bodies of Laetiporus sulphurous growing on the main truck, this causes brown rot. We also found that the trunk of the tree was hollow and as the tree was located next to some garages we decided that the best opinion was to pollard the Tree. Whilst we were on site we inspected for bats and nesting birds as we aware that Anglian Water would want the work carried out as soon as possible.
The following day we arrange to go to the site to carry out the work, the work was to be done using a MEWP ( Mobile Elevated Work Platform) as we felt the tree was not safe to climb.
The day started with a written risk assessment by the team followed by the setting up of the site, using Hazard warning tape and tree cutting signs.
Chris was going up in the MEWP today as he is one of are IPAF qualified operative’s, the rest of the team will be responsible for the cross cutting and chipping of the brash and the stacking of the wood.
